#1 MS Dhoni (60.11%)
MS Dhoni is one of the best captains the cricketing world has ever seen. His presence of mind, calmness under pressure, and habit of wining big games has made him the successful captain he is today. MS Dhoni has captained the Chennai Super Kings from the start of IPL. However, he was also the captain of Rising Pune Supergiant franchise in 2016 and 2017 season when CSK was banned from IPL due to match-fixing allegations. MS Dhoni is also the player with the most IPL matches as captain.

He has the most IPL titles as captain along with Rohit Sharma with 3 IPL titles. He has lead CSK to IPL trophies in the year 2010,2011, and 2018.
#2 Sachin Tendulkar (58.82%)
Named as the “God of Cricket” In India, Sachin was never judged as a brilliant captain for team India. However, his records as captain in IPL speaks volume for his experience and leadership quality.
Sachin had captained the Mumbai Indians in 51 matches and won 30 one of them with the wining percentage of 58.82%. It might be surprising for many people, but with 58.82% wining percentage Sachin Tendulkar stands at number 2 in the list of Most successful captains with minimum of 50 matches as captain.
#3 Rohit Sharma (58.65%)
Rohit might be the most successful captain in IPL along with MS Dhoni. He has won as many as 3 IPL Trophies making Mumbai Indians the most successful IPL team in terms of titles in history. His record as captain in IPL has always made selectors to consider him as captain material for team India.
Rohit is one of four captains in IPL to be captain in more than 100 IPL matches. In his 104 matches as captain Rohit has won 60 matches and lost 42 matches. His win percentage of 58.65% makes him third in our list of most successful captains in IPL with min. of 50 matches as captain.
#4 Shane Warne (55.45%)
The king of spin never had the opportunity to lead Australia at the highest level due to his off-filed issues and Aussie team having leaders like Ricky Ponting and Steve Waugh. But, his leadership abilities came into work when he lead Rajasthan Royals to their first and only IPL trophy till now in 2008. He was also the first ever captain to win an IPL trophy in 2008.
Shane had the ability to work with the youngsters and make them effective performers. He used to be a mentor and a captain in the team, guiding the team through every situations. In his 55 matches as IPL captain, Warne won 30 of them and lost 24 matches. His win percentage of 55.45% is still speakes for his leadership qualities that he was not able to showcase for team Australia.
#5 Gautam Gambhir (55.42%)
Gambhir took the captaincy of the KKR team and lead them to their most successful seasons in 2012 and 2014 when they were crowned champions of IPL. Before that Gautam had lead the Delhi Daredevils but his captaincy flourished in the Kolkata Knight Riders camp.
Gambhir is the only captain along with MS Dhoni who has won more than 70 matches as IPL captain. Gambhir has been captain in 129 IPL matches and won 71 matches and lost 57 matches. He has a win percentage of 55.42 and is at number five in our list of most successful captains in IPL history with minimum of 50 matches as IPL captain.
